吉林省位于中国东北地区中部，地处东北亚地区的中心，毗邻朝鲜半岛、俄罗斯远东地区和日本海。全省幅员面积18.74万平方公里。辖10个市（州、区），60个县（市区）。人口2700多万。共有汉族、朝鲜族、满族、蒙古族、回族和锡伯族等49个民族。
Located in the middle of Northeast China, Jilin province is in the center of Northeast Asia, neighboring the Korean Peninsula, the far east of Russia and the Japan Sea. The whole province has an area of 187.4 thousand square kilometers, composed of 10 cities (prefectures) and 60 counties (districts). The population is over 27 million. There are 49 nationalities like Han, Korean, Manchu, Mongolian, Hui and Xibo.
美丽富饶的吉林大地，自然资源丰富,生态环境优良，历史文化悠久，经济社会发展具有较好的基础条件。东部长白山区林海茫茫，一望无际，森林覆盖率达80%以上。长白山是东北亚重要的天然屏障，自然景观独特，生物种类丰富，生态系统完整，被誉为立体资源宝库，1980年，联合国确定长白山为“人与生物圈”自然保留地。中部松辽平原沃野千里，土质肥沃，素有“黄金玉米带”和“黑土地之乡”的美誉。盛产玉米、水稻、大豆、油料、经济作物，具有发展高效农业和优质农产品生产的良好条件。西部草原辽阔，泡沼密布，湿地面积较大,风电、石油等资源富集，地下水和过境水丰富,光、热条件好,是杂粮杂豆、油料、糖料和畜禽产品的重要基地。
The beautiful and rich Jilin has abundant natural resources, nice ecological environment, long history and culture, and good foundations and conditions for economic and social development. The eastern part is the Changbai Mountain, with endless forests which stretch to the horizon. And the forest coverage rate is over 80%. The Changbai Mountain, a significant natural barrier of Northeast Asia, has unique natural sightseeing, rich biological species and complete ecological system; thus, it is called a three-dimensional storehouse of resources. In 1980, it was confirmed by the UN as a“Human-and-biosphere”nature reserve. The Songliao Plain in the middle part has fields of fertile soil for thousands of square miles, well-known as the“golden corn belt”and“land of black soil”. It is abundant in corn, rice, soybeans, oil plants and economic plants, with good conditions to develop high-efficiency agriculture and high-quality farm produces. The western part has broad grasslands, densely-covered marshes, large area of everglade, rich resources of wind electricity and petroleum, affluent ground waters and passing water and good light and heat conditions. It is an important base for various grains and beans, oil plants, sugar plants and livestock and poultry products.
吉林省已探明矿产资源达89种，油页岩、硅藻土、硅灰石、火山渣等储量居全国首位，油页岩已探明储量占全国的54%，开发前景十分广阔。长白山矿泉水在全国储量最大、品质最好，可与世界知名的法国阿尔卑斯山、德国的哈尔茨山等优质矿泉水相媲美，东部的靖宇县被誉为“中国矿泉城”。全省已查明野生植物5000多种，野生动物400多种。著名的“东北三宝”——人参、鹿茸、林蛙油主要产在吉林省，其中人参产量占全国的85%、世界的70%以上。
There are 89 kinds of mineral resources ascertained in Jilin Province. The reserves of oil shale, diatomite, wollastonite and volcanic cinder rank first in the country, and the ascertained reserve of oil shale takes up 54% of that of the whole country, with good prospects of exploitation. The mineral water in the Changbai Mountain has the largest reserve and the best quality in the country, able to compare favorably with the world-famous high-quality mineral water in French Alps and German Harz, etc. The eastern Jingyu County is called the“Mineral Spring Town of China”. There are over 5000 kinds of wild plants and 400 kinds of wild animals ascertained in the province. The famous“Three Northeast Treasures”, namely ginseng, deer antler and forest frog oil, are mainly produced in Jilin Province, ginseng output occupying 85% of that of the country and over 70% in the world.

吉林省旅游资源独具特色。巍峨的长白山“雄山托天池,林海藏珍奇”，“一山有四季，十里不同天”。是世人瞩目的神奇之地。冰清玉洁的吉林雾凇,以其“冬天里的春天”般的诗情画意被誉为中国四大自然奇观之一。闻名海内外的集安高句丽遗迹列入世界文化遗产名录,雄伟壮观的将军坟堪称“东方金字塔”。世界“4A”级湿地——向海自然保护区是著名的丹顶鹤之乡。长影世纪城是亚洲最大的电影主题公园，还有长春净月潭国家级森林公园、长春伪皇宫，等等。这些自然人文景观犹如一颗颗璀璨的明珠镶嵌在辽阔的吉林大地。吉林省已形成了绿色生态游、雾凇冰雪游、民俗风情游、电影文化游和红色旅游等一批特色旅游产品。
The tourism resources in Jilin Province have their own characteristics. The majestic Changbai Mountain features in that“the grand mountain holding the Tianchi Lake, and the forest sea storing treasures”, and“one mountain with four seasons, and weather different in every ten miles”. It’s a land of wonder which attracts world attention. The pure and noble Jilin Rime is called one of the four great natural wonders in China for its poetical conception like“the spring in winter”. The well-known Ji’an Goguryeo Relic is listed in the World Cultural Heritage, and the grand General Tomb is called the“Oriental Pyramid”. Xianghai Nature Reserve, a world-class 4A everglade, is the hometown of red-crowned cranes. The Changying Century City is the largest movie theme park in Asia. In addition, there are also Changchun Jingyuetan National Forest Park and Changchun Puppet Manchurian Imperial Palace, etc. These natural and cultural sceneries are the bright pearls inlaid in the wide Jilin land. And Jilin Province has formed a set of feature tour products, including green ecological tour, rime and ice-snow tour, folk-custom tour, movie culture tour and Red tour.

JilinProvince is a significant old industrial base in China. The industrial foundation is solid, the categories are complete, and the processing-manufacturing industry is well-developed. The FAW Group, the cradle of China’s auto industry, was established and put into production in 1953 and is the largest auto production base in China. It has formed a production chain of heavy-, medium- and light-duty vehicles and sedans, and its name has entered the list of world Fortune 500.
中国石油吉林石化公司是中国特大型企业，年原油加工能力700多万吨，乙烯年生产能力85万吨。现有各类大型装置100多套，有8套装置生产能力位居全国第一。
China Petroleum Jilin Petrochemical Company is a large scale corporation in China, having an annual crude-oil processing capacity of over 7 million tons and ethylene producing capacity of 0.85 million tons. It owns over 100 sets of different kinds of large equipment, 8 of which have the largest production capacity in the country.
长春轨道客车公司是中国和亚洲最大的轨道客车制造企业，累计生产铁路客车、地铁车辆分别占全国的50%和85%以上。
Changchun Railway Passenger-car Company is the largest railway passenger-car manufacturer in China and even in Asia, the accumulative quantity of railroad passenger-cars and subway cars produced occupying 50% and 85% in China respectively.
林省农业生产条件得天独厚，是中国重要的商品粮生产基地。人均耕地0.21公顷，是全国平均数的2.2倍。多年来，吉林省人均粮食占有量、粮食商品率、粮食调出量及玉米出口量均居全国第1位，人均肉、蛋占有量分别居全国第1位和第5位。吉林省大力转变农业增长方式，着力提高农民收入，依托农牧业资源优势，大力实施粮食转化和深加工工程，农产品加工业迅猛发展，农业产业化经营成效显著，形成大成、黄龙、吉粮，皓月、德大、华正等一大批龙头企业。全省农业和农村经济加快发展，传统农业正在向现代农业迈进。
JilinProvince, with advantaged agricultural producing conditions, is an important commodity grain production base in China. The per capita tillable field is 0.21 ha, as 2.2 times as that of the country’s average. For years, the province has ranked first in the production of grain per capita, grain commodity utilization rate, domestic grain exports and international corn exports in China. Jilin Province also ranks first in the production of meat per capita, and fifth in the production of eggs per capita in the country. Jilin Province has greatly changed the mode of agriculture development, raised farmers’ income, implemented grain transforming and deep-processing projects relying on the resource advantages of farming and stockbreeding, made farm produce processing industry develop fast, gained prominent effects in the industrialization of agriculture, and formed a batch of leading enterprises like Dacheng, Huanglong, Jiliang, Haoyue, Deda and Huazheng.
