The promotion plan for the technical achievements of the project mainly includes the following aspects:
(1) Fully utilize the national endoscope sales network system in Tonglu County, Hangzhou City for sales;
(2) Utilize the market channel system of Daan Gene to establish sales channels with medical device enterprises and 2A or above hospitals;
(3) Collaborate with endoscope manufacturing enterprises to produce medical endoscope systems with navigation functions;
(4) Targeted deployment of IGS in surgical operating rooms to profit from surgical service fees;
(5) Implant the IGS into the entire operating room solution;
(6) Establish a cooperative distribution model with sales agents through the Medical Expo;
(7) Obtain the market demand and promote the products through professional medical device B2B platforms.
1.5 Technical team
Jilin Site’an Digital Medical Technology Co., Ltd. (under registration) is an innovative enterprise with a university gene that integrates production and research; the R&D team of Site’an comes from the Jilin Medical Imaging Computing Engineering Laboratory of Changchun University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as the laboratory), which is a provincial-level key laboratory recognized by Jilin Provincial Development and Reform Commission. The laboratory is committed to tackling industry bottlenecks and conducting forward-looking technological research in the field of computer-aided diagnosis and treatment. The achievements developed by the technical team have won first and third prizes in provincial-level scientific and technological progress, as well as first prizes in municipal level scientific and technological progress. They have been clinically practiced in multiple3A hospitals, including the General Hospital of the People’s Liberation Army, Nanfang Hospital, the First Hospital of Jilin University, the Second Hospital of Jilin University, and China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University.
Among them, the laparoscopic IGS workstation completed the first clinical trial of computer-assisted IGS for total gastrectomy via abdominal cavity in China at Nangfang Hospital; it has conducted live surgical navigation demonstrations multiple times at the International Symposium on Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgery of the Chinese Medical Association.
2. Market Potential Analysis
The IGS technology was first developed in the North American and European markets. In this region, some companies represented by Medtronic, Brainlab, GE, Stryker, and others have the high brand awareness and market share in the global IGS market.
In 1997, the Neurosurgery Department of Huashan Hospital affiliated with Fudan University introduced the first Medtronic StealthStation neuronavigation system, which showed many enterprises its commercial potential. Two years later, Shenzhen Anke Co., Ltd. developed the first domestically produced surgical navigation system. The Excelim-04 neurosurgical navigation system developed by Shanghai Fudan Digital Medical Technology Co., Ltd. was awarded a Class III medical device certificate by the National Medical Products Administration in November, 2006. On September 15, 2006, the former Ministry of Health of the People’s Republic of China announced in its project application that the “research on image guided system” was prominently included. In 2014, 2016, and 2018, the government issued multiple policies to provide a green light for the approval of innovative medical devices, including surgical navigation. On May 21, 2020, the National Health Commission issued a document encouraging hospitals at or above the second level to promote the development and application of intelligent medical equipment such as surgical robots and surgical navigation positioning, promote the application of intelligent auxiliary systems for disease diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and care, and improve the efficiency of medical services. A group of leading enterprises in the field of IGS are constantly emerging in China, including Sino Precision, Ariemedi, EDDA, B Remebot, Dcarer, Ailifeng and other companies competing on the same stage. In recent years, with the gradual deepening of research on IGS by relevant universities, research institutes, and enterprises in China, the technology of the domestic IGS industry has made significant progress. On the one hand, domestic neurosurgical IGS have reached the international advanced level. On the other hand, through continuous technological research and innovation, China has successfully expanded the application fields of domestic IGS and developed a navigation device that can be used for the adult lung and abdominal solid organ puncture surgery.
From the perspective of the market prospects of IGS, thanks to the advancement of technologies such as artificial intelligence, medical imaging, spatial positioning, and virtual reality, as well as the promotion of precision medicine, the “Healthy China 2030” policy, and the development of minimally invasive and non-invasive treatment surgery industries, the development prospects of China’s IGS industry are continuously improving.
